Day by Day
The Classic Voyage runs roughly 7–8 days round-trip from Papeete; the Grand Tour extends the journey to reach remote Rapa. Exact timing depends on freight operations — this is a working cargo ship first.
Depart Papeete on this local freight ship bound for the Austral Islands. The Tuhaa Pae is basic and built for local travel, with few amenities — bring a good book and a sense of adventure.

A travel day with no planned activities or entertainment, so prepare a few things to keep yourself occupied as the open Pacific rolls by.

A small island in the Austral archipelago offering a true sense of isolation and tranquility — pristine beaches, clear water and coral reefs for snorkelling, plus traditional villages, ancient marae and a small museum.

A larger Austral island with a moderate pier. Hike the rugged terrain, explore caves, or fish its waters; historical sites include a 19th-century fort and a WWII-era airstrip.

Famous for dramatic landscapes and limestone caves. From July to October, humpback whales gather offshore to breed. Visit ancient marae and a museum of traditional arts and crafts.

The smallest Austral island, known for beautiful beaches and clear water. Tour the reef by boat, relax on secluded beaches, and visit an ancient marae and local craft workshops.

A relaxed day at sea as the ship turns back toward Tahiti.

On the Grand Tour, the schedule extends after Rimatara to include the days below.
This extra day at sea is set aside to reach the remote island of Rapa.

One of the most remote islands in French Polynesia, reachable only by boat. Hike to the ancient hilltop fort of Morongo Uta (c. 1450–1550 AD) and explore two small villages rich in culture and history.
